It Begins

Saturday Merik finally had his first t-ball game. He got a hit on his first swing! After running to first base he turned around started heading back to home plate to hit again because that's what they do in practice. Oops! Next he was in left field and of course nothing came out that way. He still did a pretty good job staying in position. I only saw him sit down and put his glove over his face a few times. It was all pretty cute!

On the way home from the game he said, "Mom, this is my best day ever!" I'm not sure which he loved more - the game or getting snacks and a drink after?!

I almost forgot the best thing of all. Merik's team is the Rangers or as most of the boys yell after huddle "Goooooo Power Rangers"!

Art Show

When I picked up Merik from school the other day he told me, "Mom I need to invite my grandparents and my family to join me for the art show next week!" (Obviously his teachers had told him to say this.) I told him his grandparents were very far away. He said, "That's okay. I'll just call them and they will get on an airplane and fly out to Dallas." In the end I convinced him that they would be happy if we took some pictures for them so here you go.... In honor of Spring time they have been learning about bugs for a few weeks. Of course Merik LOVES it. What little boy wouldn't? His class worked together on this "Mosaic Bee" and the honey comb. Also the picture on the bottom left is Merik's self portrait from the second day of class. I wish I had thought to take a picture of his more recent self portrait hanging on the other side of the bee. I'm proud to say there is a little improvement! More bugs! Do you think he is proud of himself?! We made the mistake of stopping for cookies and brownies before we were on our way out the door. Let the silliness begin!
These last two were also class projects. His teachers are, as the kids say, "The Long Miss Kathy" and "The Short Miss Kathy". The class is made up of 12 4 year olds. I had to take Merik in a little late the other day and as we walked in the front door his class was passing by on their way to music. They all stopped and started yelling "Yeah Merik is here!" He felt pretty special and ran off with them before I could say goodbye. One little girl always tells her mom stories about "the cute boy" in class. I think he is well liked!

Ice Hockey

Why do I buy my children toys? Jaden was doing an experiment and put his drink in the freezer one afternoon. Merik found it the next day and managed to pop out the ice cube. To his surprise it looked like an air hockey puck. He pulled up some chairs and he and Jaden had a great game of ice air hockey. How fun to be a kid!

This is Jaden

The other day I got out of the shower and Jaden had helped himself to breakfast. This isn't the best picture but you can see all his tricks. He pushed the garbage can over to the counter, climbed up and found the peanut butter, crawled over the stove, opened the silverware drawer, found a knife, crawled back and started eating. Now this was before 7am. You can only imagine what the rest of the day would bring. Most mornings he pushes a chair to the fridge, gets out the apple juice, and unscrews the lid so I can pour him a drink. I can't take my eye off this boy for one minute!
